Art Area of Emphasis in Art X Expanded Forms Bfa Career

Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees are focused on studio practice, and no minor is required. Students therefore focus much more intensely on studio research, often making the BFA the preferred preparation for graduate school, planning careers every bit contained studio artists and designers, and applying for artist residencies. Program Requirements

Admission

Students may formally enter the BFA program only after meeting these requirements:

  • Consummate the five Studio Foundation classes with a B- grade or improve in each course.
  • Schedule mandatory advising with the Section Advisor OR Department Chair AND a Faculty Advisor from the chosen area of BFA study to discuss educational and career goals, to determine if the BFA program suits those goals.

Capstone Work/Portfolio Review

Portfolio review is required at the end of Blueprint Seminar for Juniors (for Graphic Pattern focus) and BFA Seminar (all other studio areas) to exist formally admitted into the Capstone courses. Students whose work requires further development volition be required to repeat these inferior seminar courses prior to beginning capstone piece of work.

Note: BFA candidates in Art Education must also be accustomed into the Teaching Licensure programme in the Moyes College of Education.

Foundation

The Foundations programme serves as the core curriculum for the Department of Fine art and Design. These courses are required for application to the BFA program, and serve as prerequisites for many upper-level, discipline-specific courses.

The Studio Foundation includes courses in visual studies, drawing, and a "workshop" structure integrating two and 3-dimensional form, analog and digital technologies and time-based media to innovate students to a range of creative approaches toward contemporary art and design practice.

Later completing these foundations courses, you can declare an emphasis within the BFA program.

second Media Accent

The Department of Visual Art & Pattern offers a Bachelors of Fine Arts caste with an emphasis in 2d Media.

You may specialize or diversify your area of study in painting, drawing, and printmaking. In this program, we encourage you lot to develop your own personal vision and independent phonation. You'll explore a range of techniques and theoretical perspectives.

Equally a graduate, you may find employment as an exhibiting painter, portrait creative person or printmaker. Every bit a visually literate, innovative thinker, your groundwork prepares you to address the contemporary demands of many fields.

3D Media Accent

The Department of Visual Art & Design offers a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree with an accent in 3D Media.

In the 3D media program, you'll exist able to focus your learning on sculpture or ceramics while becoming familiar with a wide range of materials and techniques.

Through working in actual media, you'll learn traditional, non-traditional and innovative forms and hone your skills in fabrication.

Graduates work in fields as diverse as architecture, industrial design, landscape design, sculpture, ceramics, technology, concern and more. You lot'll also be prepared to go on to a Master of Fine Arts plan.

Photography Accent

The Department of Visual Art & Blueprint offers a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Photography. Photography is also available as a pocket-sized.

Weber State University offers students the most comprehensive photography program and facilities in the Intermountain West.

You'll acquire technical expertise in analog and digital imaging, along with critical skills and theoretical insights necessary for your career in photography. Our 4,000 square foot lab contains, but is not limited to: starting time and advanced darkrooms, loftier-end digital workstations, a landscape darkroom, an alternative-processes lab and a dedicated lighting studio.

Upon graduation, yous'll have the skills necessary to pursue a career as an exhibiting creative person or piece of work in a wide range of photography-related professions. You'll also be ready to become on to complete a Master's in Fine Arts programme.

Graphic Blueprint Emphasis

The Section of Visual Art & Design offers a Bachelors of Fine Arts caste with an emphasis in Graphic Design. A minor in Design for Digital Media is also offered.

Weber Country'south graphic design plan is built upon a solid foundation of visual fundamentals, typography and blueprint history.

Your studio projects will mix practical and experimental approaches to increment your self-discipline and problem-solving abilities, and yous'll primary software including the Adobe Artistic Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver).

Employment options for graduates include design for web/interactive media, exhibitions, brand direction, packaging, publishing, advertisement and other forms of graphic communication. You will also be in a position to pursue a master of fine arts caste.
